I was recently asked if I would do it all over again. I could tell they were surprised when I quickly responded, “absolutely, but I would do it better.” Families are my favorite thing about life. I love mine and I love yours. I can’t help but pause every time I see a family at a park, crossing the road, sitting together at a fast food restaurant, or just piling into their car. I count their kids, look at their ages, notice who is helping who, and I silently wish them the best.

I have learned much in the last 30 years and wish this knowledge would have come with the birth of my first son. Building happy, healthy, strong families is the most important thing I have done, and it was definitely the hardest. Mark Twain said, “My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.”
